A brief synopsis of our gameplay objectives
I figure this is as good a time as any to talk about some of the objectives of our game. The “blocky” style of graphics and world building is becoming sort of a ‘thing’ now, so it’s important to show what makes our approach unique.
- Empire building: players are tasked not just with creating and maintaining their flagship, but also building and networking an empire spanning planets and even solar systems. The dynamic is part creative, part tycoon: create buildings to translate raw materials into products or embellish the architecture of your capital city.
- NPC interaction: this is pretty far down the road, but I’d like to see some player interaction with other intelligent species. At the very least, I think our enemies will show some organization and identity.
- Beautiful, limitless generated worlds: the planets are the thing. Each one will be filled with unique resources, structures, and geography. Combined with a little graphical flare, I think the planets will be the showpieces of the final product.
- Unique approach to multiplayer: this one’s still deep in the conceptual stages; stay tuned.
I hope I’m not saying too much! Some of this is close at hand, some may take quite some time to implement (or not). But that’s the vision I have for the game right now. Empire building and planet generation are next up on our roadmap. Once we get those started, a public release shouldn’t be far behind.
